On this blog it is our privilege and honor to introduce you to our Directress Lori Diaz who is a Licensed Funeral Director and Licensed Insurance Agent in the State of Ohio. Lori joined GMC after she served her 2 year Funeral Director’s Apprenticeship along side Master Funeral Director and Embalmer David Gary where she learned many valuable tools to assist and grow in her professional career at GARY MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Lori has a unique ability in creating meaningful Celebration of Life Services for the families that select us to serve during an at need arrangement. The families have learned to appreciate her empathy and eye for detail. Her passion for people is what has motivated her to chose this career path and is very evident in how she deals individually with families.
Lori graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Communication and minor in Sociology in 1998. She is a proud OSU Alumni. After college, she attended Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University and received her Masters in Business Administration in 2005 and Masters in Project Management in 2007. Lori currently handles the day to day operation of the funeral home and gets to put in practice the various skills she’s acquired along the way. Lori is an avid learner and loves marketing.
Lori is active in several community organizations and is a member of the Buckeye State Funeral Director’s and Embalmer’s Association and African-American Funeral Professionals of Central Ohio (AAFPCO). Lori is proud to be one of the founding members of the 100 Black Women of Central Ohio.
She and her family attend Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church where she has served over the years in a variety of different positions. She has been the Communications Director, a Deaconess, a Lower Division Sabbath School Teacher, Earliteen Sabbath School Teacher, Choir Member, Media Services Coordinator and currently serves as the Stewardship Director.
Lori is happily married to Michael and together they have two beautiful daughters, Mikayla and Kyah. In her spare time, Lori enjoys to read, roller skate, exercise and travel. When Lori isn’t at the funeral home she is cherishing time spent with those she loves.
